Job Descriptions:
The British School Jakarta, a leading international school operating for over 40 years, is currently looking to recruit a Business Policy and Procedure Writer to work on an exciting 12 month project that will see the development and implementation of a comprehensive Manual of Policies and Procedures (MoPP) to be launched on the School’s intranet site for staff reference and referral.  The intranet site has been designed and the shell is ready for a talented Business Policy and Procedure Writer to work with the School’s various Subject Matter Experts to populate it! This opportunity exists within an environment that is at the beginning of a journey, and as a result you have an ability to play a key role as this project begins.  You will have the support of a fantastic management team and work within an environment which is vibrant, engaged and committed to achieve.  You will need to have drive, be results-oriented, dependable, flexible, and approachable and maintain a positive attitude with a sense of humor throughout this important project. We are currently looking for: BUSINESS POLICY AND PROCEDURE WRITER KEY AREA RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Partner with Business and Operations Subject Matter Experts to understand business needs as it relates to policies and procedures;
  • Draft and/or update basic to moderately complex business procedures in a way which is simple and clear, so that it can be easily understood by every employee;
  • Ensure policies and procedures are comprehensive and are able to address questions or situations that may arise;
  • Ensure policies and procedures are compliant with various rules and regulations in which the school operates; this work could also entail legal work or consultation;
  • Obtain appropriate approvals from management and the School’s governing body where required including facilitating certification processes;
  • Review changes to business operations for potential impact to other operations/procedures;
  • Create guidelines for the organization and design of work;
  • Review regulatory changes to proactively identify required updates;
  • Maintain document library/manual/repository in soft copy form as part of the Manual of Policies and Procedures (MoPP).  All updates, revisions, and deletions must be version controlled, recorded and easily accessible;
  • Create basic process maps in order to provide a clearer understanding of processes or procedures;
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children you are responsible for, or come into contact with.
  • 3+ years of policy and procedure writing experience, business process improvement experience, or a combination of both;
  • Bachelor degree in Business and/or Communications or related background;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills;
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in the English language;
  • Procedure writing, process improvement and/or document editing experience;
  • Experience analyzing processes and/or procedures and recommending solutions;
  • Experience in writing for the web as all policies and procedures will be produced on the School’s new Manual of Policies and Procedures (MoPP) intranet site;
  • Proficiency in a range of software packages including the Microsoft Office Suite, Visio and other desktop applications;
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management including strong relationship management skills and the ability to develop partnerships with key business partners;
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple high priority assignments with minimal supervision.
